About Us
Fireside Ink Writers Workshop is a community where writers of all backgrounds gather to shape and share the essential stories that connect us. Our mission is to bring clarity and warmth to the writing process. We welcome writers at every stage, from first pages to publication, honoring each person’s lived experience as a vital part of our collective understanding.
Join us for a multi-week workshop or stop by one of our regular generative writing sessions where writers can meet and share their work with peers and professional writers alike. We believe that stories are an essential part of our humanity, every one deserves a spark.
Meet the Crew
In 2024, Loie reached out to Brenda with a simple question: what if Boulder had a more connected, accessible writing community? Brenda had been asking the same thing.
Working together, they constructed graduate-level syllabi and launched workshops at the Dairy Arts Center, alongside a series of community events to gather writers who shared their dream.
Today, Fireside Ink operates as a project of the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center, a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, enabling us to accept tax-deductible donations and pursue funding to support writers from all walks of life.

Loie Rawding
Loie Rawding is the author of the novel, Tight Little Vocal Cords (KERNPUNKT), a Finalist for the Big Other Book Awards and a Lambda Literary Most Anticipated Book of 2020. She is an editor, creative mentor, and a teaching artist with arts organizations across the country. Loie grew up on an island off the coast of Maine. She studied theater in Boston and worked in publishing in New York, before earning an MFA at the University of Colorado where she stayed on to teach undergraduate courses in Fiction. After seven years in Nashville, TN, Loie returned to Boulder with her family and is at work on her third novel-length project. For more information, go to: www.loierawding.com

Brenda Kahn
Brenda Kahn is a Boulder-based artist, celebrated for her poignant, lyric-driven music that blends personal narratives with broader social commentaries. She gained acclaim in the ’90s with her punk-folk music, leading to a deal with Columbia Records and praise for her album “Epiphany in Brooklyn.” She’s toured with musical greats Bob Dylan and Jeff Buckley and authored “Ode to Chores,” a humorous take on motherhood in verse. Her 2024 single “Alright OK” is available on YouTube and Spotify. Kahn is currently working on a memoir that explores the transformative power of music and writing against the backdrop of the East Village music scene in the ’90s.
